Important Information for Self-Directed Investors

A new regulatory requirement has been introduced by the Canadian Securities Administrators that prohibits the payment of trailing commissions by fund companies to dealers who do not make a suitability determination, including discount brokers. This new rule becomes effective on June 1, 2022. On March 25, 2022, BMO Investments Inc. completed a switch of trailing commission-paying series of securities of the BMO Mutual Funds that investors held in their self-directed accounts (Trailer-Paying Series) into a series of securities of the same fund that does not pay a trailing commission (Non-Trailer Series). The Non-Trailer Series is identical to the Trailer-Paying Series, other than paying a lower management fee and, in certain circumstances, there may be a difference in distribution policy resulting in a change to the amount, type and/or frequency of distributions investors will receive.
